The most scenic places you will never forget

People often wonder where to travel. Some opt for a classic beach holiday, while others are perfectly happy to sacrifice comfort for the sake of breathtaking views.

Losko Magazine has found places worth flying to the other side of the globe for, worth climbing thousands of metres and walking dozens of mountain trails to reach — because they are unquestionably worth seeing in person.

1. Switzerland

The Swiss Alps rightly top the list for sheer density of scenic spots. One of them is "Berggasthaus Aescher". This mountain inn clings to a sheer rock face, meaning it can only be reached by cable car or on foot along mountain paths.

Either way, the climb is worth it — to watch the sunrise on a misty morning with the mountains spread out below your feet.

2. Northern California, USA

Not far from the small fishing town of Trinidad (Trinidad) is located Moonstone County Park (Moonstone County Park). Fin Beals captured in his photographs the sense of freedom given by the endless horizon of the Pacific Ocean and the vast expanse of sandy beach. All that remains is to breathe deeply and take it all in.

3. Norway

Amid the cold landscapes of northern Norway, on one of the small islands near the village of Nordskot, lies the remarkable Manshausen resort. A place where sea and mountains meet, it offers a sense of harmony and closeness to nature.

The resort's buildings are constructed primarily from wood and glass, lending them an almost weightless quality and flooding the interiors with light. The cabins seem to hover over the water, affording guests a stunning panoramic view.

4. Taiwan

Mount Hehuanshan is, for good reason, one of the most popular destinations among the island's residents.

The endless winding roads and mountain ranges also inspired local photographer Yi Sung Tsai (Yi Sung Tsai) to create the project Wanderlust, which translates as "A Passion for Travel". The images not only convey the photographer's love of breathtaking scenery, but also inspire the viewer to go and witness the grandeur of Taiwan's mountains in person.

5. Wales

Wales is a land of magnificent landscapes and majestic medieval castles. Three of its areas have even been granted the official designation of "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty". However, they refer to rocky coastlines and beaches.

Mountains, though, need no official status — they are beautiful and majestic wherever in the world they stand. Wales is no exception: here, anyone can feel at one with the natural world, immersed in an atmosphere of unspoilt beauty.

6. California, USA

Mount Whitney (Whitney) is the highest point of the Sierra Nevada.

Yet you need not reach the summit to witness the beauty. Photographer Cody Smith (Cody Smith) shows us the world that lies in the shadow of this mountain — streams, lakes, and lush pockets of vegetation. A wealth of perspectives, each revealing a universe unto itself in its most pristine form.

7. Denmark

The west coast of Denmark has not been celebrated in sagas or legends. We know almost nothing about this part of the country. And yet Rasmus Hjortshøj (Rasmus Hjortshøj) has immortalised his homeland in a series of photographs titled "West-Coast".

The photographs are charged with the magnetism of nature untouched by human hand. It feels as though there is still room here for restless explorers, pioneers, and all those drawn to the unknown.

8. South Africa

South Africa can hardly be called a popular tourist destination, yet it is precisely here that one can best encounter wildlife in all its raw form, while revelling in breathtaking landscapes.

You can feel the scorching heat of the blazing sun and take in everything at once only in Africa. This continent seems to combine the incompatible: deserts give way to densely populated game parks, and rocky mountains to marshy forests.

9. Mount Chäserrugg, Switzerland

Architects from Herzog & de Meuron designed a restaurant at the summit of Mount Chäserrugg (Chäserrugg) in Switzerland, situated at an altitude of 2,261.62 metres.

Three glazed walls open onto a breathtaking panorama of the mountains. And it is hard to imagine anyone making the journey purely for the refined cuisine. With such a view beyond the windows, the most ordinary dish takes on an extraordinary flavour.

10. Suilven, Scotland

One of Scotland's most captivating places is the mountain Suilven. It rises to 731 metres, drawing travellers and photographers from around the world. Daniel Alford made a dedicated journey from his home city of Cardiff to the remote north of Scotland to photograph this magical peak.

Here there is silence, mountain paths and an astonishingly beautiful night sky — all the things that everyday life so often lacks.
