An old abandoned farm in Italy — this is the home a young family with a child chose for themselves, turning their backs on city apartment life and moving to a secluded spot of breathtaking natural beauty. Before making the move, however, the couple transformed the house in the north of the country into a genuine work of contemporary art.
Sabrina and Guido grew up in the countryside and had always dreamed of leaving the city and living closer to nature. It was important to them to feel the changing of the seasons by observing the world around them — which is why their future home was conceived as bright and white-walled, maximising the amount of light inside. The space itself is large and very open, intriguing and shifting: despite the generous amount of room, the materials chosen for the interiors visually transform it, lending additional volume.

The story of the house began when the family came across an old abandoned farm not far from where Sabrina had grown up. During the renovation, the couple decided to preserve certain original elements, and the result is a home full of life: an embodiment of contemporary design, yet one with its own history.
The modern farm is considered down to the last detail: architect Filippo Caprioglio (Filippo Caprioglio) designed the house and its windows so that the mother could watch her son playing outside. Every detail of the house's finish has been carefully considered: hand-laid stone cladding pays tribute to the site's past, while steel and glass signal that a new chapter is about to begin.
The architects prove once again that an old, dilapidated building can be given a second lease of life. Even a Victorian-era house can be transformed into a contemporary and stylish home that will stand for centuries to come.
