The urban landscape is a well-established genre with a devoted following, one in which photographers of many different persuasions have made their mark. Matthias Heiderich (Matthias Heiderich) has shared his vision of the urban landscape with admirers not only of photography, but of contemporary architecture.
What stands out in his work is the particular significance he places on the silhouette of an architectural structure. Matthias plays with form and prefers to shoot from unusual — sometimes entirely unexpected — angles, thereby revealing a fresh dimension in views that every city dweller takes for granted.
In each work, careful attention is given to colour. In Heiderich's photographs, everything is considered: from the strict geometry of the frame to shadow, tone and angle. Such photography invites the viewer to understand that any scene can be beautiful — one need only look at it differently.
