German photographer Katharina Jung spent her time travelling through New Zealand capturing beautiful, luminous images of the landscapes and people she encountered along the way. The result is this sun-filled photo journey.
In her photographs, even the most remote corner of our world feels like a sheltered retreat. Every captured moment tells a story, like an episode from a well-crafted series.
"The moment I left home, I knew I was home. I left all the trappings of money, power, status and distinction behind and set out on the journey of my life. Within each of us lies a powerful yearning for freedom, for the pursuit of happiness, for a life fully lived. All we need to do is trust, follow the signs, open our hearts and minds, and find within ourselves the strength to create the life we dream of."
"What do I want to achieve in my life? Am I acting in accordance with my own desires? What is the purpose? These are the questions I was asking myself. Ready to find the answers, I packed my bags and left the warm, cosy nest to spread my wings and set out on my own," says Katharina.
"There are a few words that can describe this journey — as a release from a cage and a following of one's heart. And since those words are so hard to find, I'm truly grateful to have photography as my great passion. Photography allows me to express myself, my feelings, and to show at least a glimpse of the beauty in the magical moments I'm lucky enough to witness along the way. I try to share my vision of those moments. A little dreamer's dream — that's where it all began."
